Project overview

Where we started

Christ the Consoler is a Grade I listed Victorian church near Newby Hall, in Skelton-on-Ure. People come to visit, to attend a concert or service, or to hire the building.

The site had to do those jobs without flattening a memorial church into a generic venue template. The building is the reason anyone is there.

We built the website around visit, events and hire, with a clear way to support the church.

Brand identity

A visual world of its own.

The production identity pairs the church's rose-window mark with heritage sage, church gold and a quiet neutral ground, allowing the building and stained glass to remain central.

Fonts, palette and the rose-window mark are taken directly from the Christ the Consoler production codebase.

What we did

The work, in order

01

A homepage that leads with the building

The first screen is the church itself, not a stock venue shot. The name, the place and the reason to come are the opening.

02

Visit, events and hire as separate paths

A visitor, someone coming to a concert, and someone hiring the church are not the same enquiry. Each has its own route from the homepage.

03

A way to support the building

Alongside visiting and hiring, the site gives people a direct way to support the upkeep of a Grade I listed church.

The result

Christ the Consoler now has a visual, useful home for its story, visitor information, events and preservation work, with the architecture present on every route through the site.
