Project overview

Where we started

The Black Lion is a community-owned village pub that also houses a café and sits beside a five-pitch touring site. Its website needed to make those offers feel connected without making any of them difficult to find.

The work had to carry the character of the restored building, explain the community story and still get quickly to the practical things: what is on, when it is open and how to visit.

We built a visual, editorial site around the people, rooms and details that make the place distinctive.

Brand identity

A visual world of its own.

The production identity uses the wireframe lion with a tightly controlled green family, pale green-stone surfaces and a soft paper ground.

Fonts, colours and the wireframe lion are taken directly from the Black Lion production codebase.

What we did

The work, in order

01

A visual language taken from the pub

The wireframe lion, deep green, cream and warm photography create a system that feels rooted in the building rather than placed over it.

02

A homepage built around the atmosphere

The hero moves through real moments from the pub, then gives the pub, café and caravan offer a clear place in the story.

03

Practical paths kept close

Events, contact details, opening information and booking routes sit where visitors expect them instead of disappearing into a generic venue structure.

04

A connected caravan experience

The caravan offer links into its own focused experience, carrying the relationship to the pub while giving touring guests the detail they need.

One venue, two offers

The Black Lion site introduces the whole place. The caravan profile gives the touring offer its own space, imagery and booking journey without losing the connection to the pub.

The result

The finished site gives the community pub a confident digital front door: rich in character, straightforward to use and able to hold the pub, café, events and touring offer together.
